Purpose Sex offenders pose a clear threat to the community. Sex offenders pose a clear threat to the community. There is a very real likelihood some sex offenders will re-offend. The goal is to reduce risk and potential harm to children by impacting the ability of sex offenders to contact children in locations frequented by children. Prohibitions A registered sex offender is prohibited from being on or within 300 feet of a public or private school for children, day care or child service facility, video arcade, playground, park, or an amusement center.
