Ember Resources is a leading producer of unconventional CBM gas with operations based in Western Canada. The company has many field workers that are required to work alone in remote locations. As a result, company policy dictates that field workers must check-in with the Control Room based on time intervals determined by the severity of the operating task. The company was using a third party working alone service. The check-in process was inefficient and Ember wanted more control over the safety of their employee’s and contractors. An automated system that was operator friendly, could be monitored 24/7 by Ember control room staff and provided employee location data was required.

Working Alone Mobile Solution The Oil & Gas Safety mobile solution utilizes a mobile app and a dashboard to provide a more efficient way to facilitate the safety check-in process. Activity View The Activity View is the nerve center of the Working Alone mobile solution. Check-in Alerts – Alerts are shown in red for any user that fails to check-in. One touch links connect the Control Room to the employee’s contact information GPS Locations – GPS for each employee is updated every minute. Activity Feed – Shows all app submissions. Feed can be filtered by type and recency (e.g. only show activity from last 24 hours)

User Management Add, modify and remove users Change “type” to restrict permissions Switch to Map view to see GPS history Form Reports Search, sort, and date filter all form submissions Download a CSV for Excel or other integrations

Mobile Application The Working Alone App makes it easy for Ember Resources Employees and Contractors to stay on task. When users start their shift, a countdown timer begins immediately. The app sends a notification to the user within 10 minutes from completion. If the countdown is completed the Control Room is sent a check-in alert. The user is also provided a notification to call the Control Room as soon as possible. Mobile forms and training are also part of the app content.
