“ This Is New Africa’s Initiative ” By Kabangu Joo-Sung Innocent

Youth Employment and Skill Development

What Is the project idea? There are millions of youths, either boys or girls who are exposed to the crimes of trafficking drugs, people or some other things. Each of us has the capacity to make a difference and bring some change wherever we are, by either contributing to supporting those who fight for a change or joining them in the fight. It is up to us to serve humanity, our brothers and sisters in the struggle for freedom from negative bondages, but also in the establishment of better living standards.  The project has as main goal of reducing street youth unemployment in Cameroon.  Starting a feasible business which will generate revenue to train street youths and support them, but also which will diversify the scope of operation and revenue resources.  Increasing the active participation and supportive contribution of youths to the development of an emergent economy.  Teaching the involved youths how to develop some entrepreneurial skills and to fulfill their initiatives.  An entrepreneurial initiative which has as objective of developing the country, and improving standards in the community, through street youths.

No measures are made to improve youth unemployment.

Plan of action

Details of the plan of action: Labor supply-Skill training and educational system reforms: The greatest gift given by parents or adults to children is education. It is usually said “Teach a child the right path to follow and he will never depart from it”. Following the studies we had in the SUSI program, a lot of emphasis were placed on finding “what the root-cause problems are?”. Most of the problems in Africa are caused by ignorance and to some extent lack of education. So education and practice are strong clues to help solve certain problems. Also, education is the only thing that resolves long lasting negative habits. So I depend heavily on educating street youths through education, practice and business, a means of helping them achieve their goals and business ideas. The main thing I will try to establish while educating youths is for them to be “Job creators and not Job seekers” then focus on developing their practical entrepreneurial skills. Matching the labour supply and demand means providing jobs for job seekers by training the rather unfortunate youths with artisan skills like electricians, plumber… above all emphasizing more on job creation and the development of entrepreneurial skills as a support to other etrepreneurs.

Describe in detail the social problem your project addresses?  The Creation of sweatshirts for my university as a means of employing a rather unfortunate youth population.  There is an alarming rate of crimes, drug involvement and robbery done by youths just because they are unemployed and strive to meet their needs.  Reducing the level of street youth unemployment, will literally improve the living standards and render a favorable economy.  The environment and society will benefit from voluntary activities performed by the street youths following the training, they received. Some problems like street electrification, burst pipes, dirty roads will be solved by these former rejected street youths.  With low annual GDP and standards of living in Cameroon, it’s important to have a supportive youth group in order to increase the labor force, improve living standards, reduce unemployment rates but also to attain the country’s objective of being an emergent economy in

Production of sweatshirts for universities as a means for employing youths but also to generate funds to teach, develop youth initiatives and also to improve the economy.

Marketing plan:  The greatest marketing strategy or plan will be through the “pricing- quality concept. So, quality products will be developed and its beauty will let the product speak of itself.

Who are my potential patners:  My University  Ashoka  Parents  Government( Funds provided for business ideas that have as aim, solving social problems)

Strategy to get them on Board

Desired impact of my social change to the community? How success will be measured? Environmental benefit  My desired impact is to reduce the level of street youths unemployed.  An increase number of youths employed and working with me will reveal how successful the problem is solved.  An Increase in entrepreneurial skills of street youths and their contribution to the establishment of an emergent economy.  An Increase in youth volunteerism and active contribution within their local community.  An improvement in living standards and reduction in crimes, but also an overall increase in GNP.
