COMMON FORMATS MP3 MP3 is an audio file format that allows for audio files to be compressed into a smaller file size. As with any type of compression is does generally degrade the files sound quality, but the quality is not easily discernable, especially with an untrained ear. Because of its compression abilities and the quality, MP3 files are widely supported, and one of the top choices for Internet audio content.

WAV WAV is an audio file format that was developed by Microsoft. It is so wide spread today that it is called a standard PC audio file format. The Wave file format stores information about the file's number of tracks (mono or stereo), sample rate, bit depth, as well as the uncompressed raw audio data.
