Introduction President Ulysses S. Grant served 2 terms as President of the United States. His presidency was from My president’s political party was Republican.

Early Life Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, He was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio, where he also grew up. Growing up, he helped run the family farm.

Schooling/career Ulysses S. Grant went to school at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Ulysses was an army officer in the Mexican War. He was a General in the Union Army during the Civil War before he was President of the United States.

Family Life Ulysses S. Grant was married to Julia Dent in They had 3 children named –Fredric Dent Grant( ) –Ulysses S. Grant( ) and –Ellen Wren Jesse Root Grant( ).

Historic Events Grant stopped a plan by people to corner the gold market. He passed an act which made money issued during the Civil War payable in gold or silver. He helped restore the economy after the Panic of 1873.

Fun interesting Facts General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House on April 9,1865. Ulysses S. Grant was the first American since George Washington to be given the rank of full general by Congress. His childhood nickname was “Useless”.

Evaluating the Presidency I think that he was a good president because fixed the economy after the Panic of Also because he was good at protecting money because he blocked the attempts to gain control of the Gold Market. He was a great war hero.

About the Author My name is Shantaisha. I go to P.S. 90 and I love to write poetry. My nickname is Taisha but most people call me Shanny. Most of the time I like to play double-dutch but other times I like to play my video games. My mom had 6 children, but my dad, had 2 more. Out of all of the children I am the youngest. I have one brother named James and my sisters’ names are Shameeka, Shaqwanda, Shada, Shawnta, Jasmine, and Alexis. You can guess which two are not my mom’s children.
