Agenda/Participants will be engaged in: Understanding Your Options Constraints and “Givens” in PowerSchool Best Practices- This is where you come in Feature sets missing V1 Admin Responsibilities Teacher Responsibilities Copying Assignments and Categories No server upgrade info in this session for more resources

CEO - DERO Technical Services Evangelist/Process Lead- Level Data Marketing/- ParkBench Software Trainer Director of Technology and Media Services Shrewsbury Public Schools (16 yrs) PowerSchool Administrator (6 yrs) Alpha/Beta Team for and PTP Bob Cornacchioli

PTP Decision? YOURS or COMMITTEE SHARE

DECISIONS - DECISIONS PS 10 – allows the use of BOTH PTP and PTG Support – PDP training – Everyone or Choice Can your IT Staff support 2 Gradebooks? Copying Assignments and Categories If Choice – Who and When? Is there any going BACK?

PTP for Everyone

PTP for a specific section

Data Migration PowerTeacher > PowerTeacher Pro Current-year data will be migrated from PowerTeacher Gradebook to PowerTeacher Pro. 10

PTP Known Issue: Co Teacher 11 When a Co-Teacher logs into PTP prior to the Lead Teacher, they will be unable to create an assignments Workaround: Lead teacher logs into PTP initially

PTP Known Issue: Grade Scale 12 GRADE SCALE ERROR will occur if your scale does not have a 0 cutoff defined. Remedy: Log into Admin Portal- navigate District>Grade Scale Page-Create a single grade option that has 0% and the Caution icon goes away

ReportWorks: Standards Report Card 13 KNOWN ISSUE: One key thing to note before transitioning sections to PowerTeacher Pro for schools using ReportWorks standards-based report cards: "Standards ReportWorks reports don’t pull data from PTP Workaround: An object report can be created using the standards object.” This is not necessarily a quick fix!

Grade Scales District > Grades Scales > New Create regular grade scales for traditional and standards-based grading. 14 CHECK ALL EXISTING GRADE SCALES that were created in PS 9 after upgrade

Special Codes Scales Create a scale that includes special score flags, such as “NC,” and associate it with a regular grade scale. 15 District > Grades Scales > New CHECK ALL EXISTING GRADE SCALES that were created in PS 9 after upgrade

Configure grading preferences and calculations for multiple schools to provide grading consistency throughout the district Save teachers from having to set up the preferences in the gradebook for each section they teach District categories with the same name will ALWAYS over-ride a teacher level category District-Level Grading Preferences CHECK ALL EXISTING GRADE SCALES that were created in PS 9 after upgrade

PowerTeacher Pro Settings: District District > PowerTeacher Pro Settings 17

Default Gradebook Type: New Sections PowerTeacher Pro Settings > Default Gradebook Type At the district level, set PowerTeacher Pro as the default gradebook for new course sections. 18 PowerSource has some great resources

District Teacher Categories Set up assignment categories, such as Test and Project, for a selection of schools to provide grading consistency. 19 District > PowerTeacher Pro Settings > District Categories for Teachers > Add PowerSource has some great resources

Can teachers change to PTP mid-year? Yes. If a section is switched to PowerTeacher Pro mid-year, the scores from PowerTeacher Gradebook will be transferred to PowerTeacher Pro the next time the teacher signs in. If sections are switched back to PowerTeacher Gradebook after using PowerTeacher Pro, any data entered in PowerTeacher Pro will NOT be transferred back to PowerTeacher Gradebook.

How do I copy my assignments from last year to my sections in PTP? PowerTeacher Pro does not yet have the copy assignment feature. However, you can use the following workaround: Before switching to PowerTeacher Pro, open PowerTeacher Gradebook and copy your assignments from last year to this year's sections. Have the PowerSchool administrator switch the sections to PowerTeacher Pro. Assignment data will migrate to PowerTeacher Pro. This feature is on the development roadmap for a future release possible Dec release How do I copy my assignments from last year to my sections in PowerTeacher Pro? PowerTeacher Pro does not yet have the copy assignment feature. Can teachers use the PowerTeacher Mobile app with PowerTeacher Pro? No. The PowerTeacher Mobile app can only be used in conjunction with PowerTeacher Gradebook. PowerTeacher Pro is designed to work with all mobile devices supporting a screen resolution of at least 1024x768. Smaller resolutions are supported but may not provide the optimal user experience. Don’t worry about NO for Mobile Apps as it works with any browser on any device ALSO – The Parent Access through the portal as they are accessing Quicklookup.html

PowerSource has some great resources

Is there an efficient way to set all sections from PowerTeacher Gradebook to PowerTeacher Pro? Quick Import is the best way to accomplish setting all sections to PowerTeacher Pro. If using DDE: Export the section records with the following columns: – gradebooktype – ^(*class_expression data="abbr" format="expression") when importing change field name to expression – course_number – section_number – teacher – termid – schoolid Update the gradebooktype field in your import file to 2. Quick Import, import the file back in to PowerSchool, selecting the option to update existing records. If using DDA: Navigate to /admin/tech/DDA (if you have access!) Select the Sections table. Select the desired sections, or for all, click Select all x records in this table. Click Modify Records. Select the GradeBookType field. Enter a value of 2.
