WELCOME! CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE 24TH DECEMBER 2015 ST ALBAN’S ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL DAR ES SALAAM

STAND ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY Verse 1:Solo Verse 2:Choir

And through all his wondrous childhood He would honour and obey, Love and watch the lowly maiden, In whose gentle arms he lay; 3/6

Christian children all must be Mild, obedient, good as he. 3/6

For he is our childhood’s pattern, Day by day like us he grew, He was little, weak and helpless, Tears and smiles like us he knew. 4/6

And he feeleth for our sadness, And he shareth in our gladness. 4/6

And our eyes at least shall see him, Through his own redeeming love, For that child so dear and gentle, Is our Lord in heaven above; 5/6

And he leads his children on To the place where he is gone. 5/6

Not in that poor lowly stable, With the oxen standing by, We shall see him, but in heaven, Set at God’s right hand on high; 6/6

Where like stars his children crowned, All in white shall wait around. 6/6

SIT BIDDING PRAYER

KNEEL LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, Which art in Heaven

Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done; In earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, The power and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

SIT CHOIR: TORCHES, TORCHES

REMAIN SEATED READING 1: Genesis 3:8-15

STAND AS WITH GLADNESS MEN OF OLD

As with gladness men of old Did the guiding star behold, As with joy they hailed its light, Leading onward, beaming bright, 1/5

So, most gracious God, may we Evermore be led to Thee. 1/5

As with joyful steps they sped, To that lowly manger bed, There to bend the knee before Him whom heaven and earth adore. 2/5

So may we with willing feet Ever seek Thy mercy seat. 2/5

As they offered gifts most rare, At that manger rude and bare, So may we with holy joy, Pure, and free from sin’s alloy, 3/5

All our costliest treasures bring, Christ, to Thee our Heavenly King. 3/5

Holy Jesu, every day Keep us in our narrow way; And, when earthly things are past, Bring our ransomed souls at last 4/5

Where they need no star to guide, Where no clouds Thy glory hide. 4/5

In that heav’nly country bright Need they no created light; Thou its light, its joy, its crown, Thou its sun which goes not down. 5/5

There for ever may we sing Alleluyas to our King. 5/5
