What do we want to achieve? Help us buy the right things at the right quality, for less. Cost reduction through aggregated demand. Look to improve process efficiency and spend visibility. Drive continuous improvements through effective spend analysis from richer data sources. Identify and implement the best outcomes for the University.

How are we going about it? Take the opportunity to examine how we currently do things. Encourage stakeholders to question if there is a better way. Take a “Curtin first” approach. Create category stakeholder groups to work together to ensure this initiative is successful. Design robust requirements. We are looking to be innovative, curious and resilient.

Understanding Roles – Governance Governance Structure – Executive Board - The Executive Board will set the strategy to ensure the overall performance of the UPH is in line with the objectives. Membership: 1 member per University – David Menarry – Immediate Business Committee - delegation to deal with issues that require immediate attention. Chair: Executive Board chair Membership: 5-7 members – Program Committee – Responsible for the overall performance of the UPH, establishing and recommending the annual wave plan to the EB and will endorse key sourcing and contracting milestones. Chair: UPH Executive Board member Membership: 7-10 members nominated by Executive Board.

Understanding Roles – Governance – Category Councils – monitor day to day performance of the UPH in relation to the various projects at the category level. Chair: Influential and respected by the participating universities. Sponsor: Program Committee member. Someone who has a budget responsibility who really understands the category. Procurement specialist, budget owner, or hub representative. Member: 6-8 members representing category specialists (technical / regulatory) and managers from participating universities. – Curtin Operational effectiveness committee – updates and key University category decision making. University Single Point of Contact (SPOC) – communication link between the UPH and the University –Philip Thomas University Category Managers – BPO/Contract Owner/Strategic Procurement – Identify requirements, processes, relationships.

Understanding Roles – Broad overview Curtin is responsible for identifying requirements. UPH will develop the procurement strategies based on our requirements, go to market and negotiate the contracts. Curtin will review contracts and agree to participate and work to integrate any technology and processes.
