JCI MAURITIUS NATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE 2007 ACTION PLAN

Mission Statement To guarantee leadership training by: designing, coordinating and supervising training programs, to ensure NOM members become: competent, ethical and visionary

Functions of NTI Design, Implement and Control the Short, Medium and Long-term strategies for NOM Individual Development and Training Certify training programs properly conducted by NTI member trainers Train NOM leaders through local, national and international training programs Serve the NOM as a resource center for training and individual development materials Recommend participants for NTI official courses to the NOM Board Recommend NOM delegates to the NOM Board to attend the JCI University Official courses

Functions of NTI Encourage trainers to participate and achieve their accreditation in the JCI University Certification process Recommend training programs to the NOM Board for official NOM events, including the National Convention and other external training work Recommend NTI member trainers to provide services at national and international events, especially in programs of the JCI University at JCI area conferences and world congress Promote NTI training activities and trainers at the national and international levels, within and outside the organisation Be a liaison between the NOM and the JCI University

Structure All NOM trainers will comprise the NTI. They will delegate its direction to a Commission whose members will serve for one year. The Commission will include the following officers: A National Training Institute Director A Resource Coordinator An Events Coordinator Any NOM member to support the team

Requirements & Functions of NTI Director Requirements: The National Training Institute Director will be elected in accordance with the NOM’s legal parameters. He or she must be at least a Certified National Trainer (CNT). Functions: Preside over the National Training Institute Along with the NTI Events Coordinator, plan, organise and lead NTI meetings Administer the budget allocated to the NTI by the NOM Receive the applications for certification of trainers and submit them to the NTI for approval Encourage the member trainers to attend and participate in JCI University programs Serve as a liaison with the JCI University and represent the NTI at activities and events to which he or she is officially invited

Requirements & Functions of NTI Resource Coordinator Requirements: The National Training Institute Resource Coordinator should be an active member of the National Training Institute and can be appointed by the National Training Institute Director. Functions: Supervise and manage the NTI training resource center Ensure that trainers are continually updating and improving their skills and abilities Update and distribute the NTI trainers directory

Requirements: The National Training Institute Events Coordinator should be an active member of the National Training Institute and can be appointed by the National Training Institute Director. Functions: Be responsible for presenting the NTI program of events to the Commission for approval Promote the organisation of NTI events among the NOM’s Local Organisation of Members (LOMs) Promote NTI trainers and training activities at all levels Serve as advisor to the NTI events organising committee/LOM committees Along with the Director of the NTI, plan, organise and lead the meetings of the NTI Requirements & Functions of NTI Resource Coordinator

Certification of JCI Trainers The National Training Institute will follow all certification rules as set down by the JCI University. Status of NTI Trainers Active To remain active in the NTI, each member must: Be registered in the NOM as an active member or past member Prove participation as a trainer in at least one training event per year Provide updated information to the NTI Inactive

Training Event Certification Training Events: Ever training event facilitated ob behalf of the NTI should be recorded and a certificate issued and signed by the NTI Director. The certificate will be presented to each participant and will contain: Name of the Training Event / Trainer’s Name and Origin Co-ordinator’s name / Date, Place and Duration Program Content NTI Trainers: The NTI will also provide the trainer with a certificate declaring that he or she has conducted the training event. This document should contain: Name of the training event / Trainer’s Name and Origin Date, Place and Duration / Program Content

2007 Budget excluding Amdec, LOM/NOM Officers Training & Prime Expenses Expenses will be financed by: Minimum of 10 participants in 12 training courses at Rs. 100 per participant = Rs /-. Any surplus will be used to help CNT gain international experience and improve NTI database of trainings. NTI will provide all stationeries and trainers at a price of Rs. 100/- per participant except for Achieve, Prime, LOM/NOM Officers Training and Mauritian Academy. LOMs will market the product and provide for venue if different from National Secretariat and provide for lunch or tea breaks for participant and trainers as well as handouts (E-handouts will be used most of the t time to reduce costs). All surplus will be kept by the organising LOMs.

Conclusion As NTI Director, my concern for 2007 is not only to make a beautiful Plan of Action but to Make it Happen so as JCI Mauritius as a whole can built on a solid structure for a better future to Do Better and Be Better.
