Talent Development Youth Framework
What are the three key ingredients in Talent Development of an athlete? Question……..
Players Coaching Facilities There are many other external factors that need to be Considered in providing a footballer with the best Opportunity to develop to the highest level. The next key ingredient would be Quality of Competition
NZ Football and Mainland believes there needs to be a fundamental transformation of the structure of youth football in New Zealand that puts the: PLAYER AT THE CENTRE All parties agreed to this We Believe……..
Sport NZ Approach to Talent Development Discussed and attached: Sport NZ Approach to Talent Development Sport NZ High Performance Talent Plan Note: NZF Talent Plan to be circulated in the coming weeks.
HOW DO WE ADDRESS THIS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PLAYERS? One Environment – avoiding conflicting programmes & overload/injury prevention. Best with Best – to accelerate the high performing players development Consistent training linked to a consistent games programme – a must for player development. Neither should be done in isolation. Access to qualified coaches – Increasing the quality of coaching will directly link to the quality of player development Qualification to a National Final’s Series – An opportunity for NZF to scout the best age group players in the country
Considerations ………………….. PLAYER OVERLOAD: How many football contacts a week? Note: 60% of players indicate they are involved in 5 or more football contacts a week! All of them in a minimum of 3 different environments – some of them 4!
To the whiteboard …………. This is what it could look like – see attached graphs Thank you, the feedback helps shape our thinking.
