D EPARTMENT OF E NERGY EMS Awareness Training All 13 respondents indicated EMS awareness training is provided 12/13 indicated that web based training is used Target audience Most sites require all staff and subcontractors to complete EMS awareness training Most sites have initial training and then a periodic refresher (usually annually or every two years) 10/13 indicated that the training included a test or other demonstration of competence

D EPARTMENT OF E NERGY Less Effective Communication Web pages (not a lot of hits) Focusing on EMS or ISO-speak Too many stand alone procedures (failure to integrate EMS into site processes) Too many s (staff are bombarded with and often don’t read all messages) Several sites commented that environmental communication is a challenge to many site’s focus on safety
