Protect the vote WIN/WIN NETWORK THE In 2011, a troubling trend took hold around the country as more than 40 conservative state legislatures suddenly began introducing changes to their voting procedures. While these new laws vary from state to state, they all have the effect of making it harder to vote, especially for African Americans, Latinos and low-income citizens.

Integrated Voter Engagement Engage2020 Voter Registration One quarter of the state are now people of color, with King County having most people of color of any region, home to one third of the state’s 1.6M non-whites. The largest ethnic population is Asian Pacific Islander (over 250,000). Voter registration rates have remained constant over time and are generally high (80% statewide), but uneven between regions.
