What is a Landform?  Definition :  Different kinds of land on earth  Examples  Mountains  Hills  Islands These are NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS !

Peninsula  Definition:  Land surrounded by water on three sides  Michigan is made up of two peninsulas  Can you see any other peninsulas on the Michigan map? Keweenaw Peninsula Leelanau Peninsula

Island  Definition:  A piece of land that is completely surrounded by water.  Michigan has more than 500 islands!  Mackinac Island  Beaver Island  Can you think of a state that is made up of islands?

Sand Dunes  Definition:  Ridges or hills of loose sand piled up by the wind  Most are found near Lake Michigan Sleeping Bear dunes

Mountain  Definition:  A very high, natural place on earth, higher than a hill  Mt. Arvon is the highest in Michigan (2000 ft.)  Do we have mountains in Michigan?
