14/05/03 ATLAS Software WeekAlexandre Solodkov2 How it works  FLUKA standalone is able to read GEANT4 geometry via FluGG interface  In case of simple G4 simulation program no changes in G4 code are required  Only geometry builder is called from FluGG class MyDetectorConstruction : public G4VUserDetectorConstruction  All the rest is done by FLUKA itself  User has to provide fortran functions to collect hits inside FLUKA  Results of simulation (hits) are saved in FLUKA proprietary files (binary or ASCII)  Digitization is done in separate program (and results are usually saved in the ntuple)

14/05/03 ATLAS Software WeekAlexandre Solodkov3 Technical details  GEANT4 – FLUKA comparison in TileCal was performed in second half of 2001  Packages used: Geant Fluka FluGG 02  FluGG has both source code and library  FLUKA is distributed in a form of precompiled library RedHat 6.1 / egcc 1.2 at that time  Examples of hit collection and digitization routines are distributed as well

14/05/03 ATLAS Software WeekAlexandre Solodkov4 TileCal testbeam in FLUKA  Standalone program to simulate TileCal testbeam setup with GEANT4 was developed in  The program described various testbeam setups with prototype and full-size TileCal modules  Integration of this program with FLUKA went smoothly, it was done in close collaboration with Paola Sala One bug in geometry description was discovered because FLUKA was crashing Only one change was required: the routine which creates ntuple was rewritten from C to Fortran
