What are Basic Allocations? English - 13 Math - 11 Science - 10 Social Studies - 11 World Languages – 4 P.E. – 3 Reading – 5 Fine Arts – 3 Total Allocations – 61.2

Classes that are NOT CLASS SIZE ALL AP COURSES ACTING ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY ALL DUAL ENROLLMENT DRAMA ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE FRENCH JOURNALISM LAW STUDIES MARINE & MARINE HONORS PRE-CALCULUS PROBABILITY & STATISTICS PSYCHOLOGY 1 & 2 SOCIOLOGY SIGN LANGUAGE SPANISH THEATRE All elective and vocational courses

The Process of “Creation” 1. Start with Advanced Placement Courses 2. Move into Advanced Electives 3. Then schedule core subject areas 4. Push “Fake” button 5. Try to resolve all conflicts possible (conflict matrix) 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 several times if necessary **************OBSTACLES************** 7. Push REAL button 8. Hand Schedule Changes

*****OBSTACLES***** 1. Intensive Reading scores 2. College Readiness courses 3. New registrations throughout summer 4. Students/parents calling for schedule changes 5. ESE scheduling

Final Steps 1. “Real” button pushed end of June/beg. Of July 2. Teachers come and go 3. Balancing starts after “Real” button pushed and continues through 2 nd week of school 4. Constant checking & rechecking 5. DNE students removed ASAP

Misconceptions “It would be great if __________(both AP sections, all my honors, all my regular, etc…) were scheduled back to back.” -That it is possible for planning periods to take precedent over student scheduling needs/requests. -That teachers who teach the exact same subject can have the same planning period. -That we don’t try to balance classes and make them as even as humanly possible. -That honors and regular are 2 preps (they are not)
