States of matter There are three states of matter: liquid, solid, and gases.

Solid The properties of a solid are the molecules are really close and packed together. Solid has a definite shape and an definite volume. The particles are not free to move. In a solid the particles are in a repeating pattern with with no space in between them. The density of a solid is the highest of the three (solid, liquid, gas). Four examples are -Tables -Chairs -Phone -Computer

Liquid The properties of liquid are the molecules are spaced out a little more than solid. Liquid has a indefinite shape and a definite volume. Liquid is able to flow and fit in a container. The density of the liquid is slightly less than that of a solid, but way more than a gas. Four examples are -Water -Milk -Blood -Gasoline

Gas The properties of gas are the particles are spaced out the most of the three. Gas has a indefinite shape and a indefinite volume. Gases are free flowing. The density of the gas is way less than that of a liquid. Four examples are -Smoke -Oxygen -Carbon dioxide -Carbon monoxide

The changes of matter From solid to a liquid is called melting and from a liquid to a solid is called freezing From a liquid to a gas is called evaporation and from a gas to a liquid is called condensation. From solid to a gas is called sublimation and a gas to a solid is called deposition.
