Adams Middle School is one of two middle schools in the North Platte Public School District. Approximately 601 students in grades 7 and 8 are educated at Adams by 42 teachers, 15 support staff, 2 counselors, an associate principal, and a principal. Instructional programs offered include: Social Studies, Literacy, Math, Algebra, Science, Physical Education, Health, Band, Orchestra, Multi-Media, Computers, General Music, Vocal Music, Art, STEAM, and Family and Consumer Science. Special Education and High Ability Learner programs are also offered. In addition to these instructional programs, interscholastic and intramural sports are offered to 7th and 8th grade students. Clubs and activities include: Art club, Journalism and Yearbook, Swing Choir, Jazz Band, Assets, Reading Classic Team, Speech Club, Chess Club, and Student Council.

Adams is a 7 th and 8th grade school in North Platte, NE. We utilize a Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) to improve student learning on a daily basis. We also employ the I.D.E.A.L. (identify, describe, evaluate, act and learn) action research model which further promotes continuous improvement. We incorporate norm- referenced tests, NeSA-WRMS, MAP testing, and demographic data in order to make calculated decisions that guide the direction of our student learning. We adopt the tier 1 indicators of the district and make this a focal point of our efforts. We also define tier 2 indicators specific to the needs of our building. Teachers create IDEAL goals as content departments to further specify tier 1 and tier 2 indicators to their own classrooms. The Trego-Ed decision making process is utilized to promote informed decision making. Professional development is created based on the needs of our building. This work is based upon a common instructional framework as related to effective instruction.
