Page 2 What is climate change? The air we breathe is a mix of gases. We need some – like oxygen – to live.

Page 3 What is climate change? The Sun makes the Earth warm, so we can live. The air holds in the heat coming from the Sun.

Page 4 What is climate change? “Greenhouse gases” help keep the Sun’s heat in our air. But if we change the air, then more heat might stay and it could get too hot!

Page 5 What are the major greenhouse gases? Two of the most common greenhouse gases are: Carbon Dioxide and Methane

Page 6 Where are greenhouse gases from? We create greenhouse gases when we: Drive a car Run farms Heat our homes Run factories Fill the garbage can

Page 7 What is climate change? Too much greenhouse gas keeps too much heat in… and that’s a problem.

Page 8 What is climate change? Too many greenhouse gases leads to “climate change”. This melts our ice and raises sea levels. Less snow & ice to reflect the Sun’s rays back into space.

Page 9 What about our oceans? Oceans help our environment by acting as a “sink”. But too many greenhouse gases changes our oceans and makes them unhealthy for fish.

Page 10 What can we do about climate change? What are everyday things we can do? Today and tomorrow, at home and at school – to protect our planet.

Page 11 How can you protect the climate? You can help!

Page 12 How are you protecting our climate? Use your Twitter account, or ask a parent with a Twitter account, to post a picture, drawing, video or collage about your #CANClimateAction.
