Minoans The first Greek culture and civilization - They lived on the island of Crete from about 2500 B.C. to 1500 B.C. - Their capitol was Knossos. It was the city of King Minos - The Minoans are named for King Minos - The Minoans have been studied by their art - Tells us their sports and their livelihoods - Bull Jumping - Sea faring people - Minoan art depicts many scenes from the sea (fishing, wildlife, sailing, etc…)

Mycenaean Decline - Mycenaeans are conquered by the Dorians, a people from the North - The Dorians destroy much of the Mycenaeans knowledge - Doric Age – period of Greek history when knowledge was lost b/c of Doric rule in Greece Lion Gate at Mycenae
