Polar Bears By Dakota

Introduction My animal is a polar bear. I chose a polar bear because I think they are interesting.

Environment Polar bears are all around the north pole, the arctic and icy places.

Physical Adaptations Long Legs Fur Blubber Smell

Long Legs Polar bears use their long legs to reach out and kill their prey. They also use them to climb up on ice.

Fur Polar bears have white fur to help camouflage them against the snow. It also helps to Keep them warm when they are in the water.

Blubber The polar bear has up to 4 inches of blubber under it’s fur to keep it warm when it is in the water.

Smell Polar bears have an excellent sense of smell that helps them to hunt their prey.

Behavioral Adaptations Dig Dens “Still Hunting”

Dig Dens Polar bears dig dens on very cold days to stay warm.

“Still Hunting” “Still hunting” is a way of catching seals from the ice edge.

Climate If the environment became warmer, polar bears would die because they have too much blubber and fur. Unless they adapt to the new environment by getting rid of some of their blubber and fur.

Other Facts about Polar Bears

Fact # 1 Polar bears hiss like cats when they're mad!

Fact # 2 Polar bears have black skin under there white fur.
