Gravity Gravity-the force that attracts a body towards the center of the earth, or towards any other physical body having mass.

Mass Mass-a large body of matter with no definite shape. a large number of people or objects crowded together.

Weight Weight- a body's relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing.

The Difference Between Mass And Weight Mass is a measure of how much matter an object has. Weight is a measure of how strongly gravity pulls on that matter. Just remember that the weight of an object depends on where it is, while its mass stays the same.

Why We Have Seasons We have seasons because the earth is tilted (wonky) as it makes its yearly journey around the sun. The Earth's axis is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees. This means that the Earth is always "pointing" to one side as it goes around the Sun.

Why do we have changes in length of days Other planets also experience these changes in day and night length because they too are tilted on their axes. Each planet's axis is tilted at a different angle. Jupiter is tilted only 3 degrees, so its change in day and night length as it moves around the Sun is less extreme than that of Earth.

Our Solar System The Solar System is made up of all the planets that orbit our Sun. In addition to planets, the Solar System also consists of moons, comets, asteroids, minor planets, and dust and gas. The Solar System Has Over 100 Worlds

Natural Satellite A natural satellite, or moon is a celestial body that orbits another celestial body of greater mass (e.g. a planet, star, or dwarf planet), called its primary. For example, the Moon is a natural satellite of Earth, and Earth is a natural satellite of the Sun.

Artificial Satellite Artificial satellites are human-built objects orbiting the Earth and other planets in the Solar System. This is different from the natural satellites, or moons, that orbit planets, dwarf planets and even asteroids.

Visible Light Visible light is a form of electromagnetic (EM) radiation, as are radio waves, infrared radiation, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and microwaves. Generally, visible light is defined as the wavelengths that are visible to most human eyes.

Infrared Radiation Infrared radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation, as are radio waves, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and microwaves. Infrared (IR) light is the part of the EM spectrum that people encounter most in everyday life,

Electromagnetic spectrum The range of wavelengths or frequencies over which electromagnetic radiation extends

Ways Scientists learn about the solar system One of the earliest tools for space exploration was the telescope. In the meantime, scientists have pushed forward with a wide variety of unmanned machines built to explore the deepest corners of our solar system.

Factors that affect the strength of gravity The strength of the gravitational force between two objects depends on two factors, mass and distance. the force of gravity the masses exert on each other. If one of the masses is doubled, the force of gravity between the objects is doubled. increases, the force of gravity decreases.

How does gravity affect the motion of planets. If you have a lot of gravity it will pull but if you don’t have any gravity it will go away.
