The increasing Muslim population has resulted the demand for Halal product is increasing as well.

Problem Statement Halal food one of the main reasons of halal tourism (Henderson, 2008). Other would include services provided that are considered as “Muslim- friendly”. Halal tourism would provide opportunities for hoteliers to be Shariah compliance. Shariah compliance means the food, services, and operations must be also halal. However, this concept is still new and this has led to confusion among hoteliers. – No standard and guidelines except MS 1900:2005 which is too general. – No comprehensive model yet.

Objectives To define the requirements of a Shariah-compliant hotel. Introduce a model called “SCI Moon”.

Shariah-Compliant Hotel Concept Still new to hotel in Malaysia. Even in academic literature. Shariah = a moral code and religious laws in Islam from the Quran, Sunnah, Ijma, Qiyas/Ijtihad. Purposes: to educate us, establish justice, realized public welfare. Shariah-compliant hotel = a hotel that provides services guided by the Islamic law and principles.

Other models Rosenberq and Coufany (2009) Henderson (2010) Nursanty (2012)
