Background Information Public land enhancement was made priority for FY areas have been identified focusing on FM 1709 Corridor FY 2011 Funding includes: –$ 84,000 (TxDOT Governor’s Achievement Award) –$100,000 (FY 2011 Reforestation Fund Budget)

Background Information A SPIN meeting was held on this item on November 15, 2010, and the following feedback was received: –Recommended that staff work with TxDOT on species of plants that will absorb impacts of cars in medians –Drift roses were suggested for Tennis Center area Implementation of the beautification projects will be handled by the CS Dept Beautification projects are currently underway and will continue throughout FY 2011

Planned Enhancements

Hwy 114 Trees Project (TxDOT Gov Achieve Award)

Kimball Medians Addition of plant material (Similar to Carroll medians)

Electrical Station at East Dove Rd. Addition of trees/shrubs for visual buffer from Dove Rd (Requires a landscape easement)

9 Bicentennial Park Frontage Turf & landscape improvements with brick planter walls (Improve view corridor into park and to match improved park entry at FM 1709)

DPS West Frontage Landscape enhancements to include stone border (Stone to match DPS West building)

McPherson Park Landscape enhancements to park and pond shoreline (Replace trees, add shrubs and roses, etc.)

Tennis Center Landscape enhancements to facility entry & interior spaces

Parkwood Drive Parkwood Drive Tree planting on city park property north of Parkwood Drive (Create a buffer from neighborhood looking north)

Pearson Storage Tanks Additional landscaping at wrought iron sections of fence (Evergreen shrubs, ornamental trees, etc.)

Diamond Circle Estates/1709 Frontage Enhance ROW along residential fences
