Where is the challenge happening?

Who can take part? Children in Tameside can take part in an amazing, Roald Dahl themed challenge this summer holidays with Tameside libraries.

What do you have to do? Read six library books over the summer with smelly activity cards to collect along the way and a wristband, certificate and medal for every child who completes the Challenge. Every child who completes the Challenge by 24th September 2016 will also be entered into a special prize draw sponsored by Active Tameside, for a chance to win a Clip ’n Climb experience for up to 10 people at Sky High Adventure!

What do I do if I want to find out more information? Go to to find out more. You can find out about dates, times and locations of all these fun activities.

What sort of free and fun activities are there going to be? Activities include: Treasure hunts Crafts Games Activities are aimed at children aged 4-11 and their parents and carers, there’s no need to book, just come along on the day.

I like drama, will there be any? Drama activities will be around the story of ‘The Enormous Crocodile.’ Storytelling and craft activities exploring The Enormous Crocodile too!

I am older, what is there for me? Free, fun workshops run by Explore Learning. Delivered by an Explore Learning tutor, each session is designed with a particular age group in mind and mixes learning with fun. Places are limited and must be booked in advance by contacting the library.

Will there be any thing else? Meet the Artist: Celebrating Shakespeare in Libraries 2016 Make a paper engineered pop-up stage set depicting a Shakespearian scene! Each library will feature a different Shakespeare play. Craft session with artist Jack Doyle, aimed at children aged 5-11 and their parents and carers. Free drop in activity, just come along!
