Purpose of Socratic Seminar ● Get ALL students thinking and talking! ● Get all students listening to different perspectives ● To explore my perceptions about an issue befor I study it.

Guideline ● Every student will speak! ● Every student will prepare ● Every student will be supported ● Every student will be respected ● Every idea can be shared.

How will I prepare? ● Respond to 4 challenge by yourself. ● Form groups of 4 and elaborate on all ideas. ● Examples ● Agree/Disagree ● Experiences/Reasons ● Challenge yourself and find counter ideas ● Each group will send 1 representative into our circle to share out ideas.

Divide your paper like this: ● 1. All Countries are created equal ● 2. Developed Countries should help developing countries ● 4. Countries have the right to expand to improve conditions for its people ● 3. Freedom, Democracy, and Capitalism should be spread around the world.

In your group, follow these steps for each question in order. ● First every single member must share what they wrote. Even if similar ideas have been shared ● In your group discuss all possible perspectives, even ones that have been shared. ● Try to come to definitive answer as a group ● Brainstorm reasons to support your argument ● Brainstorm counter arguments
