3 Major Advocacy Wins 2016 Family planning budget increase to 5 billion Tshs (2016/17) from 1.64 billion Tshs (2015/16) – 30 sub-national governments increased FP funding Public Procurement Act (2016) passed with a Special Provision to fast-track life-saving health commodities including contraceptives. Family planning integrated in AAR insurance benefit package; Wellness Program Outreach Services;. Name of Presentation AN EVIDENCE-BASED ADVOCACY INITIATIVE 2

Ongoing objectives National 1.Tanzania Commission for Universities and National Council on Technical Education developing SRH guidelines to benefit college and university students. 2.AFP to amplify family planning advocacy through building on media engagement initiatives Name of Presentation AN EVIDENCE-BASED ADVOCACY INITIATIVE 3 Subnational 2. District leadership invest in strengthening Community health workers’ (CHWs) skills to provide referral for post- partum and long acting FP methods. 3. Increased FP budget in 21 additional sub-national governments in 2017/18.

ADVOCACY WINS TO IMPACT Contraceptive Use Rising Family Planning budget allocation now a permanent feature at sub- national governments (LGA Budget Directive). FP portfolio in 5 year Development Plan (2016/ /21) with more family planning indicators for progress.
