Quality Problems in Education System Policies and procedures have not been streamlined to handle the vast load on education system. External interference and pressure in all aspects of education Wide variation in admission policies adopted by various institutions.

Conti… Examination process has suffered great set back in achieving its objectives. Inadequate infrastructure and facilities. Outmoded teaching methods Declining research standards Syllabus is not as per the emerging market needs.

Conti… Policies for promoting and regulating educational institutions are of ad-hoc nature. Proliferation of technical, management and other institutions. The system is strait-jacketed and inhibits innovation. Ensuring equitable access to quality higher education for students coming from poor families is a major challenge.

Role of Regulatory Bodies in Improving Quality Education Regulatory bodies have to play the role of facilitators and not regulators. Maintenance of standards. Change in admission policy. Focus on autonomy: operational, financial and academic autonomy coupled with accountability.

Conti… Focus on quality assurance system but it must be independent of political and institutional interaction. Education should equip students with the generic skills rather than tailor them to meet the specific requirement of the industry. Focus on public private partnership and Institution industry interface Encouraging Involvement of industry in the curriculum development and also implementation of curriculum.

Conti… Appointment and retention of qualified, experienced, and competent faculty members. Quality improvement of junior faculty members. Improvement in institutional infrastructure. Improvement in teaching methodology.

Conti.. More emphasis on laboratory work. Revision of curricula to make it more relevant to current needs. Development of research culture in the Institute. Strengthening interaction with industry.

Conti…. Encourage industry to utilize the human resource and infrastructure available in the universities To provide the eligible with good quality education at reasonable cost. Industries must be encouraged to be partners with educational institutions

Conti… To encourage industries to establish Research and Training centres. To create awareness among all the parties related to education. New technologies of information and communication should be utilized for obtaining administrative efficiency.

Conti… To develop higher education as an infrastructure for social and economic growth of the Country. Political interference in the appointment of University teachers and administrators should be totally stopped. Libraries should be fully equipped with the latest books, journals and periodicals Laboratories should be updated.

Conti… Working facilities and workload of teachers should be as per the norms. Teachers should be encouraged to attend various Conferences, Seminars, Workshops in their disciplines. Regular monitoring and evaluation.

Conti… To attract bright students after graduation/post graduation to the teaching profession. Focus on E-Learning A Cell for Value Education may be established to inculcate human values in the students.
