Date: Monday 24 & Tuesday 25, October 2016 Time: 8:30 -18:00 hrs. Place: Mexico City, Mexico Venue: Hyatt Regency Polanco Due to traffic issues in Mexico City we recommend finding accommodation in Polanco area or nearby. General Information

Objectives To create a space for dialogue and exchange where participants can present recent innovations and challenges with respect to both public and private financing for the post-2015 agenda, with specific focus on the Goals related to children. Present General Comment No.19 LEARN SHARE INNOVATE CONNECT STRENGHTHEN THE NETWORK DISCUSS SYSTEMATIZE DIALOGUE PROPOSE

Topics Examples of investment measurement and evaluation in children in LAC Regional experiences in investing in early childhood development Investment in children as the cornerstone of the SDG agenda The role of the private sector in the Sustainable Development Agenda. Strategies in the region to ensure greater influence on behalf of children in national budgets and plans. Tools and strategies to minimize the negative impact of the global economic slowdown on children: Focus on equity.

Methodology To present in detail country-level experiences, projects or research and compare them with the best practices of the other panelists to find common ground and identify trends in an specific topic. 1 hr 15 min Objective Time Participants Tools Format 3 speakers and one moderator Power Point Presentation Panel sessions 15 minutes of presentation for each participant, addressing orienting questions shared ahead of time 10 minutes Q&A 5 min conclusions (moderator)

Methodology Debate Objective Time Participants Format To present ideas and different arguments in an structured discussion in a healthy and open environment, to identify similarities, differences and particularities. Participants must be open to different ways of thinking and willing to learn from who doesn’t think alike, being active and participatory and prepare themselves to defend their views. 4 speakers and one moderator The moderator opens the discussion and launch the discussion, ensuring each participant has a turn to answer. After three such rounds,, the moderator will provide summarizing conslusions. TBD

Marketplace of Ideas Objective Time Participants Format Methodology The Marketplace of Ideas presentations are short sessions designed to display and discuss materials, program tools, videos, digital innovations. Each session will last 12 minutes, followed by three minutes to set up for the next session. The session will be repeated eight times over 75 minutes. Timing announcements will be made over the sound system. 75 minutes 5-10 stands

Marketplace of Ideas Methodology Set up: Marketplace of Ideas stations will be set up in a large room that participants will be invited to walk around. Each stand will be equipped with:  a small table  an electrical outlet  a flip chart and stand to display information  a chair  A computer screen to present a power point Supplies and Materials: Please note that you are required to bring all supplies and materials for your session with the exception of the items listed above. Handouts : You are welcome to distribute handouts to those who attend your session. All materials must be removed from the meeting room at the end of each session. We encourage you to prepare a session plan for this brief presentation, keeping in mind the objective/s included in your abstract.

Poster Session Objective Time Number of participants Format Methodology To present in a succinct and attractive way a vast array of experiences about a single topic. The main purpose of the activity is to promote a direct, dynamic exchange among the attendees, supported by posters that facilitate the understanding of the project or good practice. 1hr 30 min 10 participants All posters will be shown for one hour on a flip chart during your assigned presentation time. The posters will also be displayed in an exhibit.

Poster Session Poster design Topic Methodology We will be providing graphic designers to design 10 posters. Participants that wish to have their poster designed and printed will need to contact Elena Cantú and María Fernanda Paredes by September The first 10 proposals will be selected to receive design at the expense of UNICEF Mexico. The selected proposal will need to send a final draft to design by september 30th. The posters rough draft version will have to be sent in powerpoint or Word format. We will also print the 10 posters. The poster session will present experiences in creating child spending markers and the tools the countries have developed to assess efficiency, equity and accountability in social investment for children.
