BIOMASS

The biomass energy It is renewable. It comes from the use of organic matter and industrial matter, that it is formed in a a biologic or mecanic process. 2x10¹¹ tons of dry matter are produced per year = the energy of 68,000 tons of petroleum.

Types of biomass According to the origin of the subtances used: ● Vegetable biomass: Animal biomass:

Types of biomass II: Depending on the material used to get energy: -Nartural: It is the biomass that covers the forest, the trees, the farming plants... The biocarburants are liquid fuels rich in sugar; as cereals(bioethanol) or vegetal fats(biodiesel). The bioethanol replace the gas and the biodiesel replace the diesel.

-Residual: Is the biomass that uses the residues of straw, saw dust, manure, slaugterhouse residues, urban residues, etc.

Types of biomass III : According to the water in the subtances that form the biomass: Dry biomass: Wood, firewood, forest residues, remains from the good and furniture industry, etc. Wet biomass: Residues coming from the treatment of oil.

Transformation process of wet and dry biomass Transformation of dry biomass: It is easy to transformate Thermochemical process are used High energetic power. Transformation of wet biomass: The time needed is higher Biochemicals process Little quantity of energy Ecological interest.

Andalusian biomass The total produce of biomass= 3,327 ktoe per year. The 79% of that energy comes from the olive grove The 81% of this energy is used for thermal uses Process that use biomas as fuel: Getting hot water. Genaration of vapor. Process of getting thermal oil. Generation of hot air.

Olive grove The olive grove generate residues that come from the pruning of the olive trees and the marc generated in the obtaining of oil. Environmental advantadges of the marc ● It can be eliminated in a clean and organized way. ● It reduces the energetic dependence of other fossil fuels. ● The absence of suffer and other polluting compounds.
