NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust: Sepsis Measurement Tool

NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool Background Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) has actively been trying to improve the care of Patients with Sepsis As part of this, the ICT Department has worked with Clinical staff to develop a ‘Sepsis Measurement Tool’ Currently, the tool is web-based and allows staff to quickly and easily record Information against a number of measures

NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool Impact & Benefits The Sepsis Measurement Tool has been in use at NUH since 2014 Data can now be collected once, but used for two purposes, audit and direct feedback This shows someone has gone through the case in depth…not just a tick-box exercise The feedback is objective and presents both positive and negative feedback clearly By providing front-line clinicians with real-time feedback the tool has had a positive impact on Patient Care for Sepsis cases In just 2 years, compliance with pre-ICU bundle has increased from 20% to 80% and this improvement has been maintained The response to individualised feedback has been almost universally positive with one clinician saying “this is the most useful feedback I receive” The audit process is now less time consuming and produces real improvements in the process

NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool Opportunity As a result of it’s success, the Sepsis Measurement Tool has gained recognition and backing from the UK Sepsis Trust This presents an opportunity for NUH to develop the tool so that other Trusts can use it The purpose of this communication is to find out if there is interest for such a tool from other Trusts

NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool NUH have created a short 5-minute video so you can take a closer look at the tool Please turn up your sound and click on one of the links below to watch the video: Video of the Tool

NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool Proposal If there is great enough interest in the tool, NUH will consider creating a basic ‘package’ for other Trusts to use What this package includes may depend on feedback from you! Could you please therefore spare just a couple more minutes to complete the questionnaire overleaf

NUH: Sepsis Measurement Tool NUH have created a short Survey Monkey questionnaire about the Sepsis Measurement Tool There are only 7 questions so it should only take you a couple minutes to complete Please click on the link below to complete the questionnaire: Questionnaire
