Remember, Remember The Gunpowder Plot

Remember, remember the fifth of November the Gunpowder Treason and Plot I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot. Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent to blow up King and Parliament. Three score barrels were laid below to prove old England’s overthrow; By God’s mercy he was catch’d with a dark lantern and a lighted match. Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring. Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King! Hip hip hoorah!

The Players and the Pledge May 1604: Duck and Drake Inn o Guy Fawkes, Robert Catesby, Thomas Percy, John Wright and Thomas Wintour pledged to carry out the Gunpowder Plot o Held Mass--John Gerard ●Ultimate Goal--Catholic Plot ○James I’s daughter

The Plan Takes Hold March 1605: o Thomas Percy rents a cellar beneath Parliament o Fawkes fills the room with 36 barrels of gunpowder
