COST ES1206 (GNSS4SWEC) M.C. Meeting Reykjavik, Iceland NATIONAL REPORT OF BELGIUM, 2016 Eric Pottiaux, Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB) Roeland van Malderen, Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) Hugues Brenot, Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BIRA) Royal Observatory of Belgium Solar-Terrestrial Centre of Excellence

Contribution to WG1  ROB:  PPP/RT/UR: Continued to contribute the RT demonstration campaign (4 RT solutions).  PPP/RT/UR/BENCH: Started to reprocess the Benchmark data to simulate RT activities (for sensitivity and fine-tuning) : 320 flavours of results to inter- compare, focusing on testing different ZTD & GRD (dynamical/optimal) constrains and on convergence periods.  ASYM/BENCH: Produced 4 datasets of Slant Tropospheric Delays (+ZTD & GRD, one using GMF, one with VMF1) which include the effect of the post-fit residuals (but not yet systematic effects such as multi-path) using the Bernese GNSS Software v5.2 and the Benchmark dataset.  E-GVAP: Continued to develop next generation of ROB’s contribution to E-GVAP (multi-GNSS, sub-hourly, global network…) Pottiaux et al. - - COST ES1206 GNSS4SWEC Management Committee Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland - 11 March

Contribution to WG1 Pottiaux et al. - - COST ES1206 GNSS4SWEC Management Committee Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland - 11 March  BIRA:  ASYM/MODEL/BENCH: Quantification of delays induce by Hydrometeors during the Benchmark campaign using ALADIN-CZ outputs Simulations of Slant Tropospheric Delays from ALADIN-CZ outputs Implementations of more realistic ZTD and gradients simulations using ALADIN-CZ outputs Development of tools to visualise STD/SIWV from obs. & NWM

Contribution to WG2  ROB-RMI:  NWP: Provided RMI with different datasets (based on ROB’s E-GVAP contribution) to develop and test their data assimilation within ALARO-0  First tests: Neutral to positive impacts within the next hours predictions.  BIRA-ROB (+ Collaboration with TUO, CHI and GOP):  NWP/BENCH: Comparison of different methods to simulate delays (ZTD, GRD and Slants) from NWP with those estimated from actual GNSS observations, influence of the hydrometeors and visualisation tools in the context of the benchmark campaign. Pottiaux et al. - - COST ES1206 GNSS4SWEC Management Committee Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland - 11 March

Contribution to WG2 Pottiaux et al. - - COST ES1206 GNSS4SWEC Management Committee Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland - 11 March  BIRA:  TOMO: Cross-validation of GNSS tomography and methodological improvement (collaboration with TUO, WUELS and RMIT). Preparation of the tomography for HyMeX (collaboration with Météo-France / ENSTA / IGN). Case studies using GNSS tomography in Poland (collaboration with WUELS).

Contribution to WG3  RMI-ROB continued to coordinate the sub-WG3 ‘Homogenisation‘ activities:  FTP repository for the group activities interactions  Olivier’s dataset (based on IGS repro1) is available on the repository  Sub-WG3 workshop will be organised in Brussels on April 26-27, 2016  Web Site online (participants: register online). Pottiaux et al. - - COST ES1206 GNSS4SWEC Management Committee Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland - 11 March

Contribution to WG3  ROB:  GNSS reprocessing activities ongoing in the context of the national CORDEX.be project (“Validation of High-Resolution Climate Model runs”).  RMI-ROB-BIRA:  Time variability of IWV datasets.  Techniques: GPS(IGS repro1), GOMESCIA satellite measurements and reanalyzes.  At 100 locations (IGS GNSS stations) world-wide.  Period: 1995/1996 – onwards. Pottiaux et al. - - COST ES1206 GNSS4SWEC Management Committee Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland - 11 March
