Report to TAC: Student Activities Committee Dolores S. Krausche, Liaison from the Student Activities Committee Statistics: Rachel Dowdy, Coordinator, Student Programs January 6, 2016

Agenda: Continue SAC’s programs to sponsor student conferences, awards and competitions, including the International Student Conference and award presentations held at SciTech. Continue revisions of RFP and review processes for AIAA’s student design competitions, encouraging TC participation and collaboration. Foster further communication between the student branches, Deputy Directors of Education and the Public Policy Committee.

Summary of Activities: More than 8,975 members; 170 active student branches 8 Regional conferences, including international conferences in France and Canberra, Australia 272 Papers were presented in categories including 126 Undergraduate, 75 Graduate, 56 Team, 15 Community Outreach 14 Awards and scholarships 9 Undergraduate, 5 Graduate

Summary of Activities, continued: 5 Design Competitions: Aircraft Design TC – 3 RFPs; 30 entries Gas Turbine Engines TC – 1 RFP; 7 entries Space Transportation TC – 1 RFP; 6 entries 84 Teams participated in the Design/Build/Fly Competition Students comprise 24% of all attendees to AIAA’s conferences
