Introduction Summer Mullen EDU692 Creativity Culture and Global Contexts in Education Decision Making Instructor: William Reeves May 11, 2015

Hello my name is Summer and I am a 37 year old mother of 6, grandmother of 2, and wife to a wonderful husband. I am a Christine who is looking to grow spiritually.

Why those demographics The reason that I choose these demographic factors to define my personal identity is because I try to stay grounded in the word and my family is what I am making sacrifices for. I want to be able to support them in all areas and to be an example to my children. I am the rock that holds my family down and they are my support system and keep me motivated.

My personal story I live in San Diego, born and raised here and yes I am a die hard Charger fan. I am married to my childhood crush we met when he was 9 and I was 11. We have 6 children. 5 boys and 1 girl. The girl being the oldest. They are 20,19,19,17,15 and 13. One of my 19 yr olds,is also a Marine. I also have 2 grandchildren they are 1 and 2 yrs. I am a very loving and giving person who is also open minded. I love helping those in need. I am a Quality Control Coordinator for a Market Research company. I am a dog breeder I love pit bulls. I have 2 pit bulls, Black & Kali and a yorkie, Hercules. I have been writing poems since the 7th grade and hope to publish my own poem book one day. My emotions pour out in my poems. I have won a few poetry contest

Personal story cont….. My mother who will be 76 this year is my hero. I hope to accomplish my dreams and be as strong of a woman as she is. I am looking to obtain my Masters in Education to go on and become a youth counselor and open my own youth center in my community. I want to be in the position to help our youth, those that are having trouble as well as those that are not. I would like to provide a place where they can come and feel safe, have fun, get help, get guidance and have resources. Our youth are the future……….

My Education I went through public and private school throughout K-12 th grade. I begin Ashford University in 2011 and obtained my AA degree in Business in I decided to continue my education and begin my Bachelor degree program a week after graduating and obtained my BA degree in Sociology in February 2015 and here I am again continuing my education looking to obtain my MAED and expected to graduate August 2016.

More About Me…………… Although my name is Summer and I was born in the Summer Time my mother named be after Donna Summers. My mom loved music and that passion has also been passed down to me. I appreciate different types of music. My mom has always told me that whatever I put my mind to I can achieve and I tell my children that all the time. The words “ I Can’t” are not allowed to be used in my house. My mother also quoted these words to me ““Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” - - Harriet Tubman. I believe and live by that.

My interest and hobbies…. I love spending time with my family when I am not at work or doing school work. Together we watch movies, visit theme parks, bar-b-que, attend Charger games, etc. I have recently started fulfilling my bucket-list. I have been horse back riding and next on my list is sky diving.
