CYCLOPS ID card CYber-infrastructure for CiviL protection Operative ProcedureS Specific Support Action of EGEE Goal: to bridge the gap between Grid and Civil Protection communities Start/end date: 01/06/2006 – 31/05/2008 Budget: 825 k€ Participants: 4 EU Civil Protection agencies (IT, FR, PT and GR) + 4 technological partners: CNR-IMAA & INFN (Italy), TEI-CR (Greece), EMA(France) Project Management: Dipartimento Protezione Civile (IT) Main activities: – To analyse CP systems and define research strategies for enabling CP applications on the Grid infrastructure – Cross-dissemination between Grid (EGEE) community and Civil Protection community

INFN activities in CYCLOPS INFN is responsible of the Work Package 2, which aims to: –disseminate the Grid concepts and the EGEE middleware to the Civil Protection Community –establish a two way communication channel between CYCLOPS and EGEE projects 2 FTEs (1 to be engaged in 2007) funded, + 1 unfunded Main INFN activities carried out so far: – participation to periodical EGEE-ITF phone meetings – set up and managing of cyclops VO services and resources on the INFN Production Grid – several phone meetings among DPC, INFN and IMAA + some face to face in Prato, Rome and Bologna – 1 st training workshop delivered in Bologna in April 2007 – talk at EGEE User Forum in Manchester, May 2007 – supporting the grid-enabling of the DPC RISIKO application – 3 written reports as project deliverables produced + contributions to others project deliverables

Plans for 2008 The project ends the 31/5/2008, there are plans to submit to EU a follow-up project for implementing the CP Grid platform designed in CYCLOPS 2.9 k€ already asked for ending 2007 to cover mainly: mid-term project conference, 1 st project review and 2 nd training workshop For the time being, the requests for 2008 are: –1 TMB + 1 PMB at Rome x 1 person: 575,30 € –Final project conference at Rome x 2 persons: 768,40 € –Final review at Bruxelles x 1 person: 675,44 €  Total = 2 k€
