What makes her art important? Frida Kahlo’s art is important because she made very small paintings about herself and the people in her life. ( a picture diary)
Frida told everyone she was born in 1910, the year of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. She wanted her life to began with modern Mexico. Frida also spelled her name “Frieda.” Frida’s father was an artist, Mexico’s first photographer. When she was 6 years old she became sick with polio. The disease made her stay in her room for nine months. While she was in the room she created an imaginary friend that looks just like her and is in many of her paintings. Interesting Facts
Kahlo was in a very serious bus accident returning home from school when she was 18. It took her two years to recover. A pole pierced her body from the stomach to the pelvis. Frida spent her time in bed painting. She had 32 operations and doctors tried many kinds of body braces to help her with pain. Frida was married to another famous artist, Diego Rivera. Because of her poor health she was unable to have children and that made her very sad. Interesting Facts
