When and where the Treaty of Versailles was signed. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on the 28 of June In the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles near Paris. The Treaty they signed punished the Germans in several ways.

The countries that were there and the names of their leaders. Four officers of France, Great Britain, America and Italy. Isolated and pitiable, come the two Germans, Dr Muller and Dr Bell.

What the Treaty of Versailles said. Germany lost land to Belgium and to the new country of Poland. All of Germanys overseas colonies were taken away. The German army was to be limited to only 100,000 men. Germany was to have no air force or submarines.

How Germany felt about the Treaty of Versailles There was an angry reaction in Germany. They had been forced to accept the Treaty and punishments it contained. Germans now had to live under foreign rule in Poland and in Czechoslovakia.

Extra information.. Arguments over the treaty: While it was being drawn up the treaty was a subject of debate The three leaders who were responsible had different outlooks President Woodrow Wilson of the USA would have liked a peace settlement that was not too harsh.

Cont’d.. In contrast, Georges Clemenceau of France had a single practical aim. He was determined that Germany should be crushed completely that France need never again fear invasion.
