BEST PRACTICES FOR SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS 1.Understand why you want to partner 2.Seek out possible partners with similar goals 3.Create a shared vision 4.Collaboration not competition 5.Focus on goals not control 6.Establish a clear decision-making process 7.Negotiate fair deal – share the risks and rewards 8.Focus on “We” 9.Continuity of leadership 10.Continue to nurture, evaluate, and revise the partnership

RECOMMENDATIONS 1.Analyze respective efforts for redundancies and opportunities 2.Joint pass – City Sports Center and YMCA 3.Work towards a joint recreation pass between adjacent cities 4.Master Planning efforts – Civic Center Master Plan 5.Relocate Teen Center to the library 6.Offer all services within the new joint Teen Center for free 7.Preview City/YMCA recreation offerings through Library adult wellness classes 8.Implement joint and collaborative marketing 9.Develop partnership agreements utilizing best practices (Morgan Hill and YMCA) 10.Collect and organize existing participant data

CALL TO ACTION 1.Organize workshop between YMCA, City, and Library leadership 2.Choose several recommendations to focus on and pilot a specific partnership effort 3.Consider attending a P3 Conference
