What was the Counter Reformation? The counter-reformation is when the Catholic Church tried to fix its ways and gain people back Pope Paul III set up the Council of Trent, a group of people that met to set new Catholic rules -how bishops and priests should behave -training new priests at seminary, a special religious school -accepting a new order of priests called the Jesuits

How did the counter-reformation try to fix the Catholic Church? The Jesuits were started by Ignatius of Loyola They taught, preached and fought heresy Henry IV of France named Catholicism the official religion of France but allowed other people to practice other religions if they wanted Sending missionaries overseas to convert people to Catholicism and gain numbers

What were international missionaries and how did they change world religions? Catholic missionaries went around the world to get more people to become Catholic Other countries that became Protestant did this too! Catholics were successful at converting people in central and south America, and the Philippines Protestants were successful in America

What was the Golden Age of Cooperation with the Muslims? During the middle ages many Muslims lived in Spain and had many great achievements. -medicine and science -poetry and art -built universities -geography, sea travel -Maimonides-Muslim scholar who wrote books on law

What caused the Golden Age to come to an end? This was called the Inquisition
