Outline of Today’s Discussion 1.Priorities and Strategies for Pavement Management A.“Top 5” Roadways B.Neighborhoods C.Intersection Issues D.Chip Seal Priorities 2.Summary of Drainage Infrastructure Database
Resurfacing Priorities Major Roadways: “Top 15” based on condition and volumes. “Top 5” subset based on condition. Characteristics of “Top 5”? Average pavement age is 35.2 years. 11.2 centerline miles. No bike lanes or paved shoulders.
Pavement Management Basic Strategy Problematic/Critical Condition 20+ years old Poor Condition 15 to 20 years old Acceptable Less than 15 years old Reconstruction and resurfacing move roads from red to green. From Board Workshop, June 2015
Pavement Management Basic Strategy Paved roads (locals, collectors, arterials) 700 centerline miles Target = 5% to 7% per year (Why? Expect a 20 year life) Resurfacing goal = 35 to 49 centerline miles per year From Board Workshop, June 2015
