Yield Monitors Jake Holloway 4/17/01

Intended Purpose of This Presentation Leave you with a simple understanding of crop yield monitors for a variety of crops. Inform you about some of the different brands in the field today. Discuss the quality of these monitors

Cotton Yield Monitors Industry Leaders –Ag Leader –Micro-Trak

Discussion About These Designs Both experience accuracy problems with increased dust and trash presence. Neither appear to work on cotton strippers, only pickers. Both have the DGPS/Yield Data smearing problem that we discussed earlier.

Advantages Ag Leader advertises that all of their data logging equipment except for the actual sensor itself can be used on all crops. This flexibility allows the farmer to purchase much less of this expensive equipment.

Peanut Yield Monitors WAG Corp. in cooperation with University of Georgia Claims 1% error Weighs the basket on the go and designates the  Weight to a specific location

Bulk Crops supports potatoes, sugar beets, grapes, and carrots. Displays instantaneous and average yield, total weight, crop flow, belt speed, ground speed, swath and area for all crops harvested

Forestry

Swedish company Very sophisticated and elaborate data acquisition system Allows paper companies a wide variety of precision forestry options to choose from. Very rare in this industry
