Parent/Player Manual

ALL PAPERWORK DUE AUGUST 29 st !!

 Physicals ◦ ALL ATHLETES must have a physical completed by a doctor. Athletes will not be allowed to practice or play until physical is turned in. ◦ The Last Day to turn in a physical and play Football or Volleyball is Friday August 29 st.  All other forms must be turned in before athlete is allowed to compete in games. ◦ Travel Release, Medical Release ◦ Acknowledgement of Rules ◦ Parent/Student Agreement/Acknowledgement Form ◦ General Information Form ◦ Concussion Guidelines

 All sports have same attendance policy.  Attendance at practice is mandatory.  Must have a note for absence.  Absences per Week  1 Excused Absence = sit out ½ game  1 Un-excused Absence = sit out 1 game  2 Excused Absences = sit out 1 game  2 Un-excused Absences = sit out 2 games  Anymore than 2 Absences = Off the team

 Athletes must be in attendance at school the day of a game in order to participate.  In case of doctor appointment, a student may be checked out, but must return to school in order to participate.

 Each grade will have an A and B team.  Initial team placement is not permanent.  “B”-teamers can move up to “A” team and “A”- teamers can be moved down.  Athletes will be placed on the team where they will be the most successful.  Athlete safety is also considered.

Football Only  All games will be on Tuesday. ◦ If 7 th is Home, 8 th is Away ◦ If 8 th is Home, 7 th is Away  Football Away Games start at 5:00  Football Home Games start at ◦ Tuesdays 5:30 ◦ All Volleyball and Basketball games start at 5pm for B-Team, the A-Team games will start approximately 15 minutes after the B-Team game.

 Home Crosby Stadium or CMS gym cost: $3-for adults and $2-for students/children

 If your son plays Football on the A-team and it is a home game, they are allowed to go home after school. They are required to back at the school at 5:00pm.  If your son can’t go home after school they are allowed to stay at school although food will not be provided.  All Female sports will be played at 5pm. The Girls are required to stay after school.  If you bring food to the school for your son it needs to be dropped off by the portable buildings before 3:15pm.

Foods to Avoid.  Hamburgers, Fries, Sodas, Fried Foods.  Greasy sandwiches(McDonald’s, Jack in the Box, ALL FAST FOODS ARE BAD.)  Candy, “Energy” drinks Good Pre-Game Food  Whole wheat sandwiches, crackers, bagels  Fruits, nuts, trail-mixes, Powerbars  Water or Sports Drink only!

 All athletes must ride to away games on the bus.  All athletes must ride home on the bus from away games.  Directions to away games are online.

 Parents must pick up their athletes in a timely manner after the game and practice. ◦ High School Games-Parents Must accompany their kids at all High School games, Home or Away.  Parent Conduct at Games ◦ Has not been a problem ◦ Want to keep it that way ◦ Refs Will make mistakes ◦ Cougar / Crosby Pride!

 All athletes must pass their classes to play.  Eligibility Rules-If they fail, they will have 3 weeks before they can play again, if they are passing.  If an athlete fails, they are still expected to come to practice in order to play when they become eligible again.(The attendance rule is still in effect.)

 All instances involving discipline will be documented and filed.  Teachers will a coach if they are having problems with an athlete, the parent will also be contacted by Coach Bales or Coach Burkhart.  Two terms of (ISS) In-School Suspension=Dismissal from the team.

 1 negative mark = 400 yards Air Raids  2 negative marks = 800 yards Air Raids  3 negative marks = 1200 yards Air Raids  More than 3= Athlete will be sent home for that day of Practice and will not play in the next game. He must complete 1600 yards Air Raids before returning to the team.  If a kid consistently has a problem in class the “More than 3” rule goes into effect. EX: Johnnie had a negative mark 3 days in a row from the same teacher.  Parents will be notified by , text, or phone call daily when their son is being punished.

 Each athlete will wear an Athletic uniform.(CMS shirt, CMS shorts)  The uniform Fee is $10  This fee is used for the replacement and maintenance of uniforms, buy new equipment, and detergent for washing uniforms.  The deadline to pay the fee will be November 1 st.

 Sports can sometimes hurt! SAFETY IS HUGE!!  There is a difference between being hurt and being injured. If you are hurting we expect you to still participate, if you are injured you will have to sit out until cleared by OUR trainer or YOUR doctor.  Go to OUR Trainer First! Our trainers are very knowledgeable and use some of the best doctors in Houston.  Doctor’s Notes / Parent’s Notes will be accepted but remember he will not be allowed to play until he is released by the Doctor. GO TO OUR TRAINER FIRST!!!  If injured he is still expected to be at practice with his team, unless the injury is severe.

 All laundry will be done at the middle school.  We will wash practice uniforms, game uniforms and their athletics clothes.  We are not responsible for personal athletic attire. Please take them home with you and wash on your own.
