Mount Etna By Charlotte G 1

When did Mount Etna last erupt? Mount Etna last erupted on the 3rd of December, 2015. 2

What causes a volcano to erupt? Magma rises through cracks or weaknesses in the Earth's crust. When this pressure is released, magma explodes to the surface causing a volcanic eruption. The lava from the eruption cools to form new crust. Over time, after several eruptions, the rock builds up and a volcano  forms. 3

What to do if you are indoors during a volcanic eruption. If you are indoors during a volcanic eruption you need to… Close all windows, doors, and fireplace or woodstove dampers. Turn off all fans and heating and air conditioning systems. Bring pets and livestock into closed shelters. 4

What to do if you are outdoors during a volcanic eruption. If you are outdoors during a volcanic eruption you need to… Seek shelter indoors. If caught in a rock fall, roll into a ball to protect your head. If near a stream or river, be aware of rising water and possible mudflows in low-lying areas. Move up-slope as quickly as possible. 5

How tall is Mount Etna? Mount Etna is 3,350m tall in metres and 10990.81ft tall in feet. 6
