The National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam is the nationally recognized exam required for licensure by most states. Typically, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in interior design plus 2 years of work experience. California requires an exam administered by the California Council for Interior Design Certification called IPEX California.)
