What is Service Learning?  Service Learning is a method of teaching, learning and reflecting that combines academic classroom curriculum with meaningful service, frequently youth service, throughout the community.

Benefits of Service-Learning  Increase your understanding of the class topic  Gain hands-on experience (possibly leading to an internship or job later)  Explore or cement your values and beliefs  Have opportunities to act on your values and beliefs  Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills  Grow your understanding of diverse cultures and communities  Learn more about social issues and their root causes  Improve your ability to handle ambiguity and be open to change; become more flexible

My Community Service  I volunteered my time at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter. I gave dogs a bath, walked them and played with them.  I got to play with the cats.  I also got to help name a new dog “Roxy”
