INTRODUCTION I: Given the current and future development of computerization and information communications infrastructures, the manufacturing industries are facing more and more challenges how to secure their production and distribution plants in conjunction with the information flow within the organization and worldwide via Internet. The pervasive access to Internet introduces new challenges how to secure control and management of manufacturing plants and at the same time to provide access to authorised personnel at any-time and from-anywhere.

EXPERT SYSTEMS The basic structure of an expert system. The knowledge base consists of knowledge rules (general information about the problem) and inference rules (the approach used to reach conclusions). The results are communicated to the user through the natural-language interface. Source: After K.W. Goff. Expert system as applied to an industrial robot guided by machine vision using two cameras. The automated environment and cyberspace systems for the 21 st century entered a new era of innovation and technological advancements. World’s industry and commerce are becoming more and more computerized having a global vision for the future. The advancement of current technologies in the fields such as data and telecommunications, ubiquitous Internet access and sensor technologies combined with the new revolutionary explorations and concepts in biotechnology and nanotechnology, computer human interface-interaction, present a great challenge for the research community worldwide. It is essential to remember that technology is only a tool and/or utility resource that is available to us all. Did we find the answers to simple questions such as: “Why it is that if little spider falls from the table down on the kitchen floor, it never breaks it’s tiny legs?” “Did we really make progress in Automation and if yes to what extend?” “What is the ultimate Internet access?” “What is the truly Intelligent Fully-Automated Cyberspace?” I believe that we are at the beginning of new technological revolution that will transform our lives. It is essential to continue in research, innovation, the developments of new technologies and application in support of automation.
