Welcome!  Students, please take your packet on the stage and sit with your parent / guardian. IF YOU ARE RENTING, please have your parent sign the bottom of the rental form attached to your packet and return it to Ms. Richmond.

Clarke Middle School Ski Trip Sunday River, Bethel Maine Feb 27 th -March 1 st

Student Itinerary  Friday Morning  7:15AM-8:10AM *Bring skis & luggage to fitness center *Tape poles and skies together *Make sure that your name is on your luggage and equipment *Keep anything you want for the bus trip in your locker or place in Mr. Wettstone’s office. You are responsible for making sure these things get on the bus!!!

 If you wish to avoid the school drop off traffic, you may drop off equipment as early as 6:15 in the fitness center.  THIS IF FOR EQUIPMENT DROP OFF ONLY!  Students will not be allowed to stay in school until the fitness center officially opens at 7:15.

Important Note for Parents  Do not unload on the driveway  Park in the coned off area in the lower parking lot  Important to keep fire/bus lane open for through traffic

School Materials  Clarke Middle School will be closed on Sunday, March 1st.  How to get your child’s backpack:  Pick it up from the main office area on Friday afternoon after the dismissal traffic has ceased. (3:15 - 5:00)  Many bags look alike. Please be sure your name is on your back pack.  Have a friend bring the backpack home.

Pool Rules  To swim you must have passed in the signed permission form  Clarke chaperones have to be present  No diving, no running, no horseplay, no jumping  No steam room  Appropriate fitting bathing suit

Room Rules  Gender only rooms  No more than 6 students in a room at a time  Do not engage in any horseplay of any kind

End of the Night  9:15 PM - 11:00 PM  Be sure you have ice, drinks, and anything else you will need for the night before 9pm!  Students must be in their rooms  Students CAN NOT LEAVE ROOMS  Get organized for skiing  Chaperone will check specific rooms  11:00PM LIGHTS OUT!

Phone Calls…  If your child calls you with issues or concerns, please ask to speak with a chaperone to help resolve the problem.  This will help clear up any concerns or misunderstandings.

At the Mountain  1. Receive weekend ticket (valid for both days)  2. Busses unloaded  3. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR EQUIPMENT (There are lockers available for rent ( you will need quarters) or a basket check which may cost a few dollars???) Lessons/Rentals  Students taking lessons (with or without rentals) will go with Ms. Williams  Students renting skis will go with Mr. Romulus and Ms. Richmond.  Students renting snowboards will go with Mr. Laxague

SKI AND BOARD HARD BUT SAFELY AND WITHIN YOUR ABILITY. HAVE FUN. WEAR YOUR HELMET IF YOU HAVE ONE! OBEY THE RULES. HELMETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL AT THE MOUNTAIN. COST IS $15 FOR BOTH DAYS.

If you have not signed up to rent a helmet and would still like to, you must bring in $15 cash (exact change only) in an envelope with your name on it and hand it personally to Ms. Richmond in room 362.

When the Lifts Close (4:00PM)  Bring everything to the bus (including your rentals)  There is an overnight ski check at the mountain. The cost is around $5. The ski check is in front of the ski school building.  Use your extra bag to help organize your equipment!  Attendance taken at bus  Return to Motel - 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM  Wash up. Hang ski clothes. No pool before dinner

USE THE SKI CHECK – DON’T BE A MRS. WILLIAMS OR THIS GUY!!!

Saturday Night  5:30 PM Dinner  6:30 PM - 9:00 PM Free Time, Dance Same rules apply from the previous night  9:00PM Everyone in their rooms You may not leave your rooms  11:00PM LIGHT OUTS!

Sunday March 1st Sunday March 1st  6:30 AM Wake Up, Clean Room, Pack Belongings Put all dirty towels in the shower or on the floor of the bathroom. Your room must be completely clean!  6:50 - 7:20 AM Breakfast in main building. After Breakfast: Make sure you have everything for the mountain You won’t see the luggage until Lexington

Room Inspection  All roommates must return to their room after breakfast and gather all belongings.  Take your luggage and load the bus.  ALL ROOMATES MUST THEN RETURN TO ROOMS FOR ROOM INSPECTION!  Chaperones will check rooms for damage, cleanliness and personal belongings.  After inspection you will return to the bus for the trip to the mountain.

Remember….  Set clothes aside to change into for ride home.  Take clothes to lodge with you.  Bring shoes to lodge.  Be sure you have your lift ticket.  You may want to leave $2-$5 per person as a tip for the cleaning staff.

Ski Ski Ski 8:30am to 2:45pm  Renters should return their rentals by 2:30pm.  Eat something and use restrooms before boarding bus…we are not stopping until Lexington!!!  Change into comfortable clothing for the ride home.

What do parents need to do?  Global connect call will be initiated sometime after 4:00 pm.  Parents will be informed of approximate arrival time.  Please plan on arriving at Clarke at least 5-10 minutes before estimated arrival time.

Arriving at Clarke  Luggage will be unloaded before students are allowed off the bus!  Please Do Not Park In The Bus Zone!  Please be prompt picking up your child!

Monday March 2nd  7:50 a.m. - Be in School On Time!!!!!!

On The Mountain  Ski with at least one other person.  Use trail map and stay within your ability.  Helmets are recommended.  If someone is injured, go to the first aid station. Do not leave anyone alone on mountain.  Notify chaperone in lodge.

Reminders  Label your equipment.  You are responsible for your equipment.  Rentals are your responsibility.  Prescribed medication will be with Ms. Maus and/or ski trip chaperone in the lodge.  You must remember to meet them for your scheduled medication.

MEDICATION  Any student taking medication must fill out the permission/medical form and have a physician signature.  If you would like a chaperone to hold onto your medication, you need to see Ms. Maus TONIGHT!  If you have an Epi Pen you must bring one from home and carry it with you. You may NOT bring the Epi pen that is in the nurse’s office.

Medications Cont.  Epipens and Inhalers should be carried by students at all times.  Zip them into a jacket or pants pocket.  Ensure your name and phone number are on the packaging.

Expectations  Behavior of all participants is expected to be exemplary.  This trip is a privilege.  You are representing Lexington, Clarke Middle School, and yourself.  Don’t force someone into making a decision that is both disappointing and unnecessary.
