Executive summary Established by the Council, with the help of others, to build a new entity to deliver real benefit to the Corby community that leverages the growth in and around the town To achieve that benefit it aimed to make Corby the UK’s leading practical community scale test centre for new sustainable ways of living, working and travelling It has been a success and in its fourth year We are now developing projects through which the CIC can broaden the benefits for Corby

Why Electric Corby and how? The UK’s largest growth area outside London 14 years into a 30 year journey Growing from 50,000 to 100,000 people by 2030’s –Already at 65,000 –And another 100,000 in North Northamptonshire In the top 5 fastest growing places in the UK £300m of public funding has leveraged over £2billion of private investment in place making 75% of UK population within 2 hour drive

What is Electric Corby CIC? Electric Corby CIC is a Community Interest Company –A blend of private company and public sector agenda –It has the flexibility and agility of a private company, but the values and governance of a public body, as all benefits of the company must go to the Community – the Corby Community –It does not have shares, it is governed by a mixed public private Board to manage the business in alignment with it’s Mission and Values

R & D EnterpriseCommunity CHESS-SETUP In negotiation CleanTech Northamptonshire ESIF funded SME support programme for energy and resource efficiency investment including grant funding for businesses 3-Year EU funded project to establish a single EU marketplace that enables public administrations and businesses to consume and deliver digital services DoF is using ICT to collect, register and monitor energy data providing analysis and modeling to help reduce consumption and emissions by up to 30% NEW 3-year project to design, implement and promote a reliable, efficient and commercially viable renewables energy storage systems leveraging heat pumps to access A stage 2 commercial approach to build new energy efficient homes with Best of Breed partners Providing proven expertise to move into social housing 2 3 Establishing new kind of Community Energy Company with a 3 phase plan for individuals and businesses to benefit directly from lower cost of power to their homes and buildings Potential to deliver affordable home project based on ZEB 2 model and design working with CBC, HCA and/or others Future 3 Pillars Current & Emerging Projects
