Public Software aka CASSIE Launched February 28 On all public Reference machines on 1 st floor and in GovDocs (not on the kiosk computers) Patrons receive access code at Front Desk Code good for 1 hour of computer time Codes expire at midnight Students can have as many codes as they want (also obtainable at Circ for Rice patrons)

ETD Submissions Rice piloted ETDs in Spring 2012 Students had option of submitting print or ETD Vireo submission system configured to meet needs of Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies ETDs mandatory starting Fall 2012 System seems to be working very well Grad Studies publishing out to repository at end of academic year Will start publishing to IR as soon as final version is submitted and approved.
2011 and 2012 Digitization Project to digitize print theses from 2011 and 2012, managed by Monica Rivero Students scanned theses during Summer and Fall 2012 Metadata retrieved from ProQuest and imported with theses Project underway for thesis QC Identify missing ETDs and scan them TS to identify theses that library never received Case of the newly-discovered Architecture theses
EMBARGOESEMBARGOESEMBARGOESEMBARGOES Graduate Council agreed to 1 year, renewable embargo Must be approved by advisor and Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Student must proactively request a renewal, which will be granted, “under very unusual circumstances.”
