Presentation transcript:

Temujuin khan Many of you may not know who Temujuin khan is but really you do but by another name Ghengis khan. Temujuin khan was named after two people the name “temujiun” comes from a tartar chief who Temujiun's father Yesukhei defeated in battle. The khan part comes later when he's named chief of his clan. Khan means chief.

Early life When he was 9 his father brought him to live with his future bride (which would be one of many)her name was “Borte”. When his father was returning home from the trip he was invited to a feast in a tartar village. During the feast he was poisoned. When Temujuin heard this he immediately left for his village to claim his rite to be the clan chief. Unfortunately the clan would not recognise him as a contender for the position of chieftain. His half brother was due to be named as the chieftain until they got into a fight and Temujuin killed his brother.

Borte When Temuijiun was 16 he married Borte. With their marriage it created an alliance between Borte's clan the Konkirat's and Temujiun clan. Shortly after their wedding Borte was kidnapped by a rival clan called the Merkit's. Fortunately Temujiun managed to rescue her and soon after she gave birth to their first son Jochi. Temujiun had 4 sons with Borte only these 4 children where eligible to succeed him for chieftain. Fact Some people didn't Belive that Jochi was Temujiun son Because it was not Known that Borte was pregnant before She was captured. e/genghis-khan /videos/genghis-khan- mongolian-warlord

Kidnapped When Temujiun was 20 he too was captured. He was kidnapped by what he thought to be his allies. I suppose you could say he was keeping his enemies closer than his friend's. This just goes to show how brilliant a tactician he was, even if he didn’t know that he was doing.

The beginning During his capture Temujuin was helped by a sympathetic capturer who helped him and fellow clansmen to escape. When he escaped he started his slow ascent to power by gathering an army of 20,000 and destroy the traditional tribes and unite all of Mongolia under his rule.

Avenged Due to outstanding military prowess and merciless brutality Temujiun decimated the tartar army's and avenged his father. After the battle Temujuin ordered all male Tarter's under the height of 3 feet to be killed.

Ghengis Khan After his recent brilliance in battle his name was changed to the better known name of Ghengis Khan. Which means chief of all men.

The army He employed an extensive spy network and was quick to beat his opponent at their own game by confusing them with their own messaging systems. His main foot soldiers were well equipped each soldier had a bow, arrows, daggers, shield and a lasso.

The cavalry The cavalry in my opinion where his most devastating regiment. They were swift moving and deadly accurate due to the fact they could control their horse's with their legs so that they had their arms free to use their short swords, javelins and maces or battle axes.

The cavalry Archers ● These men where like the tanks of today. They could kill an opponent 180m away at full gallop. Their aim with a bow was impeccable and could easily beat any olympic archer. They also had great stamina they travelled 440km in three days. That's 440,000m which is a lot for any horse.

His Empire In only four years he was the owner of the second biggest empire with only the British empire beating them. He had conquered Northern china, much of India and Persia. India Here Mongolia Here And China Here

His Demise ● Genghis khan died in 1227 just after he defeated the Xia Xia's. ● Know one really noes how he died but many have speculated on his death. ● His burial place. No one has found his body but all evidence points to the river Onon which some say was diverted to cover his grave.

The dividing In Genghis khan's will he divided his nation between his son's. Ogedei: Supreme ruler ship Chagatai: Central Asia and northern Iraq Touli: A small patch of land in Mongolia Jochi his oldest son was killed before his death but while alive he ruled modern russia with his son Batu together they created the golden horde.
